Dermal definition treatments or dermal fillers as they are more commonly known, are a non-invasive way to help bring more shape, definition and volume to your face. They also aid in smoothing unwanted lines. Fillers use hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps to keep our skin elastic and soft, but unfortunately, as we age the production of hyaluronic acid starts to decrease. When this acid is injected back into the skin, the molecules attract water, filling any lines to give you a more youthful, plump and defined look.
Treatment FAQ's
Anyone looking to increase the hydration and elasticity of their skin, as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines.
We can treat nasolabial lines, marionette lines, peri-oral (smoker’s) lines, cheeks, jawline, lips, and chin.
Results from dermal definition or dermal fillers are normally noticeable immediately, though you should see the best results after a few days, once any minor side effects like swelling have calmed.
Fillers last an average of nine to 12 months, but this does vary from individual to individual. It’s important to note that if you enjoy the results, you will need to maintain a treatment plan to ensure you retain optimal results.
Dermal fillers are broken down by the body in the same way that the body breaks down your own, naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid and so, while fillers can last up to 12 months, it’s best to keep them topped up and checked regularly, rather than allowing them to be completely absorbed and then having to start again. Ensuring you spread out your treatments means the fillers are easier to manage and the cost is spread evenly over time.
All makeup or skincare products will be removed and a topical numbing cream will be applied to the area. If required, when performing lip augmentation, we can also administer dental infusion. Your consultant will mark out where they will be injecting, and insert a small cannula to deliver the filler into the skin.
As dermal definition uses the natural compound of hyaluronic acid, the skin accepts them quickly but there is likely to be some initial swelling or redness around the treated area which should rapidly fade.
There is little to no downtime with most dermal filler treatments, and results can often be seen almost instantly. Some people may experience mild swelling and bruising to the treated, which will fade after a few days but is important to take into consideration when choosing this treatment and booking your treatments in with us. We do suggest that you avoid exercise, alcohol and saunas for 24 hours after your treatment to reduce the chance of infection.
A deposit of £50 is required on all dermal definition treatments – this is fully redeemable against your chosen treatment.
